The Collège Hotel is located at 5 place Saint-Paul, a stone's throw away from St Paul Church and station.

Together with Saint-Jean and Saint-Georges, Saint-Paul is one of the three districts making up Lyon's old town. Today, it is linked to the city centre by a bridge but right up until the 12th Century it was separate from the rest of Lyon. Rich merchants and bankers then moved in, building magnificent residences, some of which can still be seen today. But over time, the city centre moved to the opposite bank of the river and Saint-Paul saw its influence decline.

Today, its warm-hued streets are bustling again with gift shops, traditional bistros and museums giving it an almost Mediterranean feel.

Lyon's old town

The Collège Hotel boasts an excellent location in the heart of Lyon's historic old town on the banks of the River Saône at the foot of Fourvière Hill. It is the largest Renaissance district in Europe after Venice and has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998. Today, its cobbled streets bustle with tourists and locals, disappearing into its traboules, Lyon's famous secret passageways linking one street to another.

Thanks to its ideal location in the heart of Lyon's old town, near St Jean Cathedral and just over the bridge from the city centre, most of the city's tourist attractions can be accessed on foot or by bike using Lyon's Velo'v self-service hire bikes (2 docking stations less than 50 m from the hotel) or the Vaporetto river shuttle on the Saône to see the sights or reach Lyon's Confluence district.

Nearby activities: visits to Lyon's secret traboules, treasure hunts in the old town, cruises, bike rides, food trails.

Right on the doorstep: Saint Jean Cathedral, traditional bistros, Fourvière Basilica, Roman theatres, Gadagne Museum, city centre etc.
